Sexting, BART, lost heels — what else could you ask for in a musical? We have been having the best time creating Tinderella, a world premiere musical written by Rose Oser, Weston Scott, and Christian Schmidt. I get to play a character completely unlike any I've gotten to play before as well — one with attitude, plaid, and a whole lot of sarcasm. Come by and swipe with us!
Get ready for some raucous, rollicking fun! Kimberley and the cast of It Shoulda Been You have been hard at work rehearsing this comic masterpiece, and are so excited for opening night on October 20. With a cast of hysterical, varied characters from the overbearing Jewish mother-of-the-bride to the over-the-top, no filter best man, this musical is literally made to entertain. Kimberley has so enjoyed diving into the character of Rebecca — the bride trying desperately to have the perfect wedding while keeping all of her secrets, well...secret!
Get ready - it's the summer of love, and the Mountain Play Association it putting together a fantastic way to celebrate! On June 10, Mount Tamalpais will host the Magic Mountain Play Music Festival. One day only, the festival will begin at 10 am with various local bands, then Jefferson Starship will play at 1 pm, and the day will finish with a concert version of the musical Hair at 3 pm. Kimberley will be playing the role of Crissy, the love-seeking flower child waiting patiently for Frank Mills. With only two weeks of rehearsal, endless lyrics to memorize, and an absolutely amazing cast, it's going to be a crazy and beautiful trip!
Just a week or two into rehearsal, it's already clear that Be My Baby, an engaging and hysterical play by Ken Ludwig, is going to be a fantastic show! Kimberley is playing the role of Gloria, an excitable British newlywed, finding out the realities of marriage.
...and they're arriving in January, with an exciting workshop for Castle Happy — a world premiere musical produced by Altarena Playhouse. Kimberley has been having a fantastic time working with the team of Castle Happy to create the role of Patricia, an impetuous, head-over-heels in love, teenage daughter of Marion Davies and William Randolph Hearst. The music is intriguing and the story is filled with champagne and laughter...it's going to be a grand old time!
Kimberley is beyond excited to announce her next gig: playing Chastity in PianoFight's upcoming production of Forking! This show was PianoFight's very first full production back in 2009, and we are having an amazing time working with playwright Daniel Heath to take the original script back into the 90s. Take a look at our awesome trailer for the show, and don't miss this choose-your-own-ending adventure!
Kimberley had the wonderful opportunity to interview six top musical directors in the Bay Area, and get their top tips on musical auditions. It was also the first full-length feature article she has taken the helm of at Theatre Bay Area - an exciting achievement! Not only was it a fantastic learning experience for Kimberley, but it has also become TBA's fifth-highest read piece of journalism in less than a month.
